Hi There!

I’m Darren; thanks for visiting!

I’m a cycling and outdoor enthusiast living in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  I ride mostly on the road, commute to work, race ‘cross in the fall and dabble at cross-country skiing in the Gatineau Hills when the snow gets too deep to ride bikes.  I’m the author of an eBook about cyclocross, titled Cyclocross for Roadies: How and Why to Get Started, which you can learn all about (and purchase!) by clicking here!

I’m a GIS geek by trade, and enjoy all things geography related, with a particular interest in Open-Source GIS Software. I love a good GIS brain teaser, so if you’ve got a problem you’re stuck on, perhaps I can help!

If you want to talk bikes, or need some help with your GIS project, feel free to get in touch. The best way is via the form below. Thanks for visiting!

It seems you bike a lot.
I read through your blogspot. Lots of good info. You should join up with a bike club. It is a way to get in base miles that are fun and less boring than just hammering it out alone.

Hey Darren,

First off I wanted to let you know, although less frequent as of late, that I’ve enjoyed reading through the content on your blog (especially the cycling and GIS content). The confluence of GIS and cycling is an exciting space!

Secondly, I wanted to see if you would be interested in doing a review of TrainerRoad. I have seen it mentioned on your site but am unaware of how familiar you are with TR. We’d be more than happy to set you up with a promo code for a review.

Let me know if this is something you’d be interested in. Thanks!

Thanks Jonathan! I’d love a promo code, but likely couldn’t get around to a review until winter!
